Audio Described & Tactile Tour of You Can’t See Speed by Tina Stefanou
Blind motorcycle rider and mechanic, Matthew Cassar features in a collaborative new film commission at the centre of ACCA’s current exhibition, Tina Stefanou: You Can’t See Speed .
Coinciding with Cassar’s journey of riding dirt bikes in high performance contexts, this video work follows Cassar along a surrealist voyage of adrenalin and self-actualisation.
Accompanying the film is a large-scale, site-specific stunt ramp and an immersive soundscape which weaves through a labyrinth of installations, video works and sculptures spanning the entire gallery.
Join us on Saturday May 24th from 11:45am for a free audio described and tactile tour of the exhibition led by Zoe Boesen from Loom. This will include live audio description of the 17 minute film featuring Cassar, followed by a guided tour of the entire exhibition, combining visual descriptions with key information about the art works, and opportunities to touch elements of the installations and sculptures.
Designed in consultation with the blind and low-vision community, this tour will be informal, accessible in content and allow for self-directed exploration. Volume of the soundscape will be lowered for the informative part of the tour (roughly 1hr) followed by the option to revisit artworks at full volume. We would like people to engage in the tour however works best for them. This could mean coming and going throughout, engaging in conversation or just listening to the information.
Whilst this tour has been designed with the blind and low-vision community in mind, it is open to anyone who may benefit.
Please feel free to get in touch with us if you have any questions. Book your spot via the link here.
