Time Paintings by Matthew Simpson

Matthew Simpson presents his new exhibition Time Paintings at No Vacancy Gallery. Time Paintings features paintings from 1999 to the present day, including the work ‘Christmas (1999)’ which represents a stylistic breakthrough in his work and will be in a public gallery for the first time. These paintings evolved over time slowly building up layers of lines, celebrating the process of painting, embracing changes, accidents, and discoveries made along the way.

Please join us for the opening celebrations on July 18, 6-8pm at No Vacancy Gallery. Or you can view the exhibition from July 15 to 27 at 34-40 Jane Bell Lane (off Russell St) Level 3, QV Building.

An abstract oil painting on canvas titled ‘Clint’. It features a network of intersecting wavy lines on a beige coloured background. The colours of the lines are burgundy, mustard, green and navy blue. The lines go in all directions and create a complex, web-like pattern.
